Small point of use fume extractors are available in a wide variety of styles to suit many applications for venting harmful fumes away from the lab and users. These small extractors give lab users flexibility to perform some tasks at the bench rather than attempt to find available space in the traditional fume hoods in the laboratory. Fume extraction arms, commonly called snorkel fume hoods, can be connected to the building ductwork and mechanical system to exhaust fumes out of the building. Portable snorkel fume hoods are also available in bench top and floor models. These extractors have self contained filtration systems to suit the application. Filtration media options include HEPA, ASHRAE, activated carbon and specialty minerals.
